  • Scrolling words in the background, then zoomed large? How can I do this?

There is an ad on Yahoo for “World of Star Wars” –
    I went to the site : https://starwars.yahoo.com/
but it doesn’t seem to have the ad. Here is the long and short of it. In the background, there is a list of words. They look to be about 28 size font. They are laundry listed, left justified.
As the list scrolls, the words pop up in LARGE, probably about 3 times the font size. But as the speed of the scroll in the background increases, the large word cycles through quickly as well. I guess it would be like using an Ipod wheel to scroll through the songs and the songs, instead of being highlighted, increase in size.
I hope that is clear. It looks like it is done in flash, but I wonder if there is a script for it in AE?
    Thanks

scripts and expressions cannot access the text attributes like font size, color, etc. however, text animators can effect size/scale of characters, words or lines individually.

to get started, create some text lines. twirl down the text properties and to the right of the text properties should be ‘animate’. click the triangle to access the text animators and choose scale.

twirl down the animator, range selector and advanced properties. set the advanced ‘based on’ setting to ‘lines’ and the ‘shape’ to ‘smooth’. set the scale to 200% (or more).

drag the range selector offset around, the lines should scale up and down as the offset changes… is this getting close to the effect…?

if so, the offest can be keyframed as needed as the list scrolls. you could also link the position of the list to the offset value via expressions, so, say the line in the middle of the screen scales up as the list scrolls down (which i think is what you were describing…)

Thanks I will try that. I like the way the scroll speed varies..
