    Hi,

I’m trying to create this neat MS DOS effect in After Effects, but cannot seem to find the right way to do this.

Right now I am using “Character Offset” to simulate a hacker who is typing loads of commands. I want the text to go up one line at the time when the text is about to overflow through the bottom of the column.

I could “scroll” the text up, but then the animation is too smooth. The text should disappear one line at the time.

Is there an easy way to do is?

    Cheers,
    Twan

Try key framing the vertical orientation and (using keyframe assistant) toggle hold keyframes. You can then tweak the speed to make it more realistic with the graph viewer

The animation of the text moving up should not last longer than one frame.
So, on the text layer just set two keyframes right next to each other and adjust the height of the text.
