I’m working on basic scrolling text for end credits on a feature film on my MacPro tower. I’m using AE 7, so it’s operating in Rosetta, but even so, the response time is extremely slow. Granted, there is a lot of text, but anytime I try to make a slight change like add or remove spacing, the response time is suspiciously slow. I’m even displaying at 1/4 resolution. Is there some basic setting I could be overlooking that would make working with this text easier?

    Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure. You might want to separate the credits into multiple layers, maybe one for each department, and parent them all to a null that creeps up. Then you hide all but the department you’re working on …?

are all your credits on one giant text layer (a text layer created in ae with the text tool), and you are trying to animate the text layer itself in a comp?

i’ve noticed slowdowns in ae7 on a macpro with large text layers created in ae (versus imported from illustrator/photoshop). i also found that for some reason precomping the ae text layer and animating the move of the precomp made it work better, it just made updating the text a little more difficult.
