  • Scrolling text in 5.0.4 seems to have moir

I started using FCP when it was version 4.1

Back then the problem with the built in credit roll (scrolling text effect) was getting a flash frame at the heads of the credits. But it was easy to work around.

Since upgrading the FCP5, and just today downloading the update for 5.0.4, my credit roll has a distinct moir

Rolling cleanly is primarily a function of the SPEED at which you roll the CG. The edges interact with the TV scan lines.
If you find the right speed (and there are several that work better) you can get the best results.

You should experiment with (very slightly) changing the length/speed of the roll.
Make a change, render part of it, then check it.
Make another change and see which is better.
Continue until the best (cleanest) speed is found.

In addition, you can reduce the sharpness of the CG a bit (add a very small amount of Gaussian Blur) and that will reduce the amount of visible moir
