I’m having problems creating a simple scrolling “credits” like at the end of a movie. I create the text in AE and then use a position keyframe to move the text from the bottom to the top. Looks like it should be fine, but when it’s played on a NTSC monitor it appears to flicker and shake or wobble. I thought it might be the font, but it still happened when I changed fonts. I’m rendering the final clip as a Quicktime with Animation codec best quality. I also had the same problem in Final Cut.

Does anyone have any tips or have seen this before? Is it a field problem? Is there a timing issue?

    Many thanks in advance.

Could be a timing issue. Also, make sure comp is set up appropriately. I would also try adding some motion blur.

i highly recommend reading dave’s explanation and solution of the problem in the thread he listed…

but if you use the expression i wrote, it’s been significantly rewritten to allow key framing the start and end positions, so download the latest flickerfree preset. if you have an earlier version of ae (earlier than ae7) let me know and i’ll try to make an older version… i’ve been meaning to make one, just haven’t gotten around to it.

There’s a section in After Effects Help dedicated to this issue:
” Best practices for creating text and vector graphics for video”
