Script to change text within expressions
I set up a control layer to drive some expressions. I want to use this layer to control layers in a duplicate comp but now I have to change the wording in all the expressions to reference the new comp.
Is there a script that can look through a comp’s expressions and change, say, “comp(“comp1”) to comp(“Comp2”), or any other replacement that needs to be made?

Seems like a fun challenge. I’m trying to write a script for you right now, but I’m getting hung up on calling all the different possible properties for a layer, given the fact that I can’t predict what plugins you might have expressions on and haven’t found a good way to potential wild cards via script. Would it still be helpful to you if this worked only with transform properties?

Wow, thanks for the effort! I’ve been away for the holidays so sorry for a late response.
Though the project I was working on is over now and I just slogged through changing all the layer references in the expressions to get it done, any help in a script would be very useful to me and, I would imagine, others as well.
Transform properties only would certainly be useful in the future and could be a starting point for you and other great minds to create a script that could streamline this process.
Just a thought prefaced by the fact that I know nothing about writing scripts, but is it possible to direct a script to just look at a comp’s layers for any expressions regardless of whether or not it lives in a transform property or an effect?Thank You
