Script for voiceover
Posted by Michel Coin on January 28, 2011 at 9:34 amFirst message so hi all!
I’d like to know if it is possible to create a script that will allow to make automatic voiceovers (for translations) on an audio track. A bit like that:

Something like making a selection, apply a script that will make fade in (fast fade slope), fade out (slow fade slope) with a level of -15db.
So, is it possible and not too hard to create (never done a script in my life)???
Thank you all

Both Sony Vegas Pro Production Assistant and VASST Ultimate S Pro have this capability. They both also have other audio tools to help you split left and right channel and normalize your audio in addition to two kinds of voice over ducking tools.
VASST Ultimate S Pro also includes an exclusive audio plug-in from iZotope based on their Ozone technology that can quickly add polish to your audio tracks and voice overs. We have settings for both male and female voiceovers. You just apply them and get that instant “punch” you are looking for with EQ settings and everything all taken care of for you.
I encourage you to download the trial copy of both and explore the possibilities.

I would have said this differently: Ultimate S Pro is the original tool to have these features and Vegasaur seems to be a cheaper copy of a lot of Ultimate S Pro features including some UI elements that look very similar. Ultimate S Pro has been around for six (6) years now and is extremely stable and proven technology.

Actually, if I remember correctly, you had three scripts until Ultimate S Pro came out which was an all-in-one script using a tabbed interface and then you combined yours into one tabbed interface and kept the Excalibur name but that’s irrelevant. Excalibur does do voice-over ducking as well and is a respected product in it’s own right. 😉

January 29, 2011 at 2:59 pmYou are correct that there were three products but Voice Over was one of the tools in the first release of Excalibur. What’s amazing, I took the original Excalibur 1.0, changed “SonicFoundry” to “Sony”, and it RAN in Vegas Pro 10! Don’t guarantee all the tools would work correctly in 10 but it did start and displayed the GUI.
I’m not going to get into a date war but the fact is that Excalibur 3 was released with a tabbed interface in August of 2004 – two months before Ultimate S was first released. So it seems we were both working on a tabbed interface at the same time. I guess great minds think alike! Excalibur 4 combined the other two products into the single interface, and added more tabs, in March of 2005.
I agree that both are valuable scripts and Vegas would not be as easy to use without them. Which is also why I strongly recommend that everyone buy BOTH and use each to their best advantage!
