I switched over to 12 a couple of weeks ago, and ever since I have been cursing (more so than before) the restrictions on window sizing.

I’m finding it harder and harder to work with a larger node tree when i can’t expand out the size of my area.

Not sure if i’m going crazy, but i feel like i used to be able to do some (not much but some) resizing of window sizes to accomodate different layouts. Now i’m expected to make it full, half or not at all. This is not the way to work.

I tried using some Boris ofx plug ins yesterday, and couldn’t access the settings in a reasonable fashion. I was constantly trying to move the scroll bar up and down, and it was just jumping past the parts i wanted to work on.

If Resolve wants to become the be-all end-all of editing, colour and finishing, you have to allow us to manipulate our workspaces.

I couldn’t agree more. This has been a heavily requested feature for a long time and it’s disappointing to hear that they haven’t fixed this. I was using Resolve yesterday and had the exact same issue. Especially when applying power grades, nodes can be everywhere and it’s really a pain to manage.

I’m no expert but it seems like a fairly simple feature. But I guess all we can do as of now is cross our fingers.

Get a 4k/UHD GUI, It’s amazing! I’ve got the LG ‘digital cinema’ monitor, the 31MU97. It’s lovely. Haven’t looked back!

As far as I know, the GUI is hard coded in some cases and can’t easily be programmed to allow moving it. My suggestion would be to get a higher-res monitor. I switched to a 27″ 2560×1440 monitor some time ago, and I’ve got the room to see 20-25 nodes with no problem.

I agree with you, Glenn. In today’s environment, there’s no reason a workspace that can span multiple monitors isn’t implemented. Needing to buy a 4k monitor just to be able to edit is, IMHO, totally unreasonable.

Well, you can just buy a second display and split the interface in two. Does that not work for you? I can’t work without 3 monitors myself, and that’s how I work every day.

Moving around the interface would be nice, but I would actually rather they return to the daVinci 2K interface with the multiple desktops. Once you get used to that, it’s an extremely efficient way to work.

I have a 32 inch ultra wide monitor, so real estate isn’t really the issue. The problem is what little ability we had to do minor resizing of the work areas in v.11 and earlier, has now disappeared, in favor of the little button that allows you to jump to a couple of preset sizing options. Sometimes all I want to do is open up the nodes a bit, or expand the viewer down a bit. I can no longer do that.
