Screen Mode in a precomp with Layer Style
Hi,
Let me start off by saying I already know the workaround (render the precomp to a new file and import it as a vector image), but I was just hoping someone could explain this, and maybe offer a way to leave my layers in AE without the extra render.
I have a logo in AE that’s composed of text and a JPG image. The JPG image has a black background and I’ve changed to “Screen” transfer mode to remove the black. All was well.
I added a 3 pixel layer style (Stroke) to the TEXT layers. Then I wanted to add another Stroke around the whole thing.
I precomposed the layers, turned on Collapse Transformations (to carry the screen-mode transparency into my main comp). Still all was well.
Once I applied the second stroke (or even if I go generate-stroke), however, the black background came back in my jpg layer.
If I change the transfer mode of the precomp to screen, it fixes the problem with the background of the jpg, but then my black text disappears.
Any ideas?
