Screen Mode and Nested Compositions
Hey folks, I’m going to ask this assuming I’m doing something wrong, but I can’t figure out what.
I have some pre-matted video elements that I’m putting into a comp with some other animated 2D elements. I set these video elements to screen so they lose their black background. However when I use this composition in my main comp, the black background has returned?! Any ideas? Is there a setting or something that I’m missing?

Nested composition will not respect the inside layers blend modes unless you turn on the collapse switch for the precomp.

Red Giant has a free Unmult effect that makes black transparent, so you can do this with an effect instead of a blend mode.
