What is really the most efficient way to configure Premiere Pro? I presently have three ATA drives. The first drive is 60GB which I have split into two partitions. 50GB is for programs with 10GB for drivers, downloads, and docs. The second and fastest is 160GB. I have Capture pointed at this drive. The Third is 80GB and I have Projects, Previews, Conformed Audio, and Exported .avi’s and mpg’s on it. The MSI motherboard is a SATA so I will eventually move capture to a two drive RAID. Does this sound reasonable? After I set up the RAID, what is the best use of the 160? One of the resons for this setup is because when Icomplete a project, I am likely to reformat the capture drive and even the Preview drive tranfering critical files to an external.

Your setup sounds fine. Are you going to replace the 160gb drive with a Raid or match it with a partner 160gb drive to form a Raid? Formatting drives is not really necessary after each project and can be a pain in the neck with a Raid array. If you manage your folders you can delete unwanted files and simply “defrag” regularly to give you optimal performance.
