  Scissors only working intermitantly

  I’m following a tutorial, and it says I should click in the middle of a path with the scissor button to cut it in 1/2. (in this case it’s the arc tool.

  For some reason the scissor tool seems to only want to work sometimes. The message I always get is:
  “Please us the scissors tool on a segment or an anchor point (but not an endpoint) of a path.”

  I’m not trying to cut an endpoint… just the middle of the line. Can anyone think of why it might be acting this way?
  I have tried sending the path to the front of the stack, and zooming in on the path to get a better shot, as well as selecting the proper layer in the layers tab (twirlling down the layer and selecting the path) Nada.
