School or training

Hi there,

Well, if you’re comfortable with computers and software, you might just purchase some books and DVD training.

Total Training has very good options for After Effects. A major benefit to a DVD training class is you own the DVD’s and can watch them again whenever you want.

Chris & Trish Meyer also have some great books on After Effects.

I’ve found that between the Forums, Total Training and books, I’ve been able to learn AE just fine.

Thanks man. I surely hope those videos are good cuz I want to learn as much as I can in After Effects. I want to eventually be able to make some gnarly animations like exopolis(my inspiration).

Any other suggesstions? How about school? Is it necessary to spend alot of money in school?

I’d recommend that you check out the Savannah College of Art and Design. I’m currently a Broadcast Design and Motion Graphics student there. It has a very good reputation:

I came here because it’s a commercial art school with a fine arts foundation. We constantly get employers coming to recruit (for all majors). In the last month, we’ve had ESPN, Concrete Pictures, and LucasArts come to recruit.

Hey, thanks, but I live in California. I work full time and need an alternative on going to school either online or at night. I have taken 2 classes at ArtCenter Pasadena, but they do not offer any degrees at night and you can’t get financial aid. These school are $$$$$$$$$ expensive! So, does anyone know any alternative?
