I’m considering signing up for an intensive course from School of Motion. https://www.schoolofmotion.com/blog/animation-course-overview . Has anyone taken courses from them, and if so did you feel it was worth the money and time? The one I’m considering is called Animation Bootcamp, which I understand is AFX-based, but they have a lot that look interesting like one called Expression Session and a few others. I work largely in isolation as a sole video producer, with plenty of knowledge gaps I’d like to fill (although I’m an experienced AFX user), and my employer is offering some paid professional development courses. In the past, I’ve just done inexpensive options like LinkedIn Learning, but since they’re offering this, I’m looking for good options that are more like a real class environment (albeit a virtual one) with live instructors, other students etc. I work full-time and this class is also 12 weeks long and requires 15-20 hours a week, so it’s a big time commitment as well. Grateful for any feedback!

I took After Effects Kickstart in 2018. Best thing I ever did for my career. I entered that class knowing almost nothing about After Effects. I am now a full-time motion design at a production studio. I want to take so many more classes, but price is holding me back. I still have access to everything from that class, too. I was able to finish in the 12 weeks while having a full-time job and a 2 year old, at the time.

So helpful, thanks Liz! That’s great to know you really benefitted from a School of Motion course, and especially that you were able to juggle an intensive class with a family (similar juggling act here)!

    Thanks again,

    Neil
