    Hi,

I seen your shatter tutorial on Creative Cow. I have been working in AE (CS4) to create a “reverse” shatter effect on a photograph. I want the photo to be 100 shattered and then arrange itself on screen at 0 percent. However, the photo begins to shatter when threshold is set to 100 percent and go off screen (or off the photo layer). When the timeline reaches the 0 percent threshold, the photo never reassembles–or if it does for some reason the photo shows behind the comp window or at least looks like it is behind the comp window.

Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong here??

Thank you very much for any help you can provide.

and I need to add that the ballistics of Shatter are designed to mimic explosions, not reassemblies. You MUST spend lots of effort playing with the Strength, Gravity, and Viscosity controls to get a realistic set of physics that convey pieces are being drawn together. Simply running Shatter backwards is immediately recognized by even the dumbest audience member as a simple reverse shot. It just looks wrong.

A better result is often obtainable with Card Dance since it has no predisposition toward explosive forces.

    Hi David,

Thank you very much for your help. I will try the Card Dance effect as well. It’s always great to have knowledgeable people willing to offer advice. And Creative Cow does this better than anyone!
