I’m having trouble finding an effect plug-in to do somethine I know I’ve seen before. Just don’t know if it was done in AE.

I would like my still photo to scan on, vertically, from right to left (like a wipe). But as the the edge moves across the picture, the edge pixels are repeated all across to the left edge. So it appears we have a super-stretched edge building the the picture onto the screen.

Anybody know how to do this? Shear (with repeat edge pixels on) works in Photoshop, or I can stretch a single row of pixels in PS. but how to animate it in AE?

i’m pretty sure this effect is in pete’s plugins at petewarden.com. i think it is smear. there is a notehr way to create it that was mentioned a long time ago here, i think it used keylight… if you don’t want to download the free pete’s plugins, search the ae form for smear.

Not sure if I understand – maybe try the effect called Transitions > CC Scale Wipe?

cc scale wipe would work, if you crank up the scale value… it’s also a bit more refined than the effect i was think of

    No, my “duh”.
That is exactly right. I looked through the effects prior to posting, but skipped Transitions/ because i wasn’t thinking of it a a transition.

    Thanks to both of you.

Aharon, I missed thursday’s meeting, but hope to make the next one.
