  • Scaling up a composition (with Element 3D)

Posted by Claire Wilkins on January 11, 2017 at 11:13 am

    Hey all,

I made a rookie error. I’ve edited a video in 960 x 720 (4:3- this part was intentional) but suddenly the clients changed their mind and wants to put it on 2 screens – still 4:3 but higher definition.

I understand i should use 1440 x 1080 to get a high resolution output that is still within 4:3, and i’ve read that i can use:

Scripts > Scale selected layers/ Scale composition – to get the composition to scale up to this size . A. Is this correct or will i still be pixelating everything?

Secondly, the above does not seem to affect the Element 3D text/Logo I’ve placed in the animation- is there a way to scale this up also so that i don’t have to painstakingly reanimate the camera movement?

Run the script, then change the size of the solid to which Element is applied to match the new comp size and reset its scale.

You could try this free script. I’m just not sure if scaling up the Element 3D solid will change the size of your model, but it’s worth a shot.

    Hi Walter,

Thank you so much for your advice, but ( and it’s probably me panicking a little) I can’t get it to work.

Could you perhaps take a look at the Project file for me if i upload it with any assets??

I’m at my witts end with it all!
