  • scaling a Nested Sequence in FCP

Does anyone know how to scale (zoom/magnify) a nested sequence?

When you double click a single track, the viewer window opens and you can “scale” here. However, with a nested sequence, after nesting, when you double click on it, it opens a timeline with the separated nested tracks.

How do you “scale” the nested sequence as a whole?

    any knowledge?

    thanks!

Control click or Right Click on the nest to get a menu. In there you will see OPEN IN VIEWER. Then in the viewer, scale the sequence.

[Shane Ross] “Control click or Right Click on the nest to get a menu. In there you will see OPEN IN VIEWER. Then in the viewer, scale the sequence.”

Or single click the nest, then hit Return to move it into the Viewer.

Or drag the nest to the viewer.

I just love how many different ways you can do something.

That’s one of FCP’s strengths that always seems to annoy new Avid editors when I talk to them. “Why can’t we just have one way to do this? Why does there have to be so many ways to get there?” Personally, I love the flexibility.

Or, even simpler, Option+double click the nested secuence in timeline.

Or Option-double click on the nest.

    All the best,

Along the same lines, when an Avid editor loads a sequence into the Viewer and finds that he can’t cut from a virtual KEM roll like you can in Avid they don’t understand why FCP won’t work that way. True, the Viewer would have to have a different kind of behavior option to do that.
