  • Scaling A Mask…

    Hi There,

Just wondering if anyone had any tips on scaling a mask (without using mask expansion). Basically, I’d like to scale down an eliptical mask over time. I know how to keyframe it, but is there any way to grab all of the mask points at once and scale down. Right now I’m having to adjust each mask point individually and it’s a bit of a pain.

Hope I’ve been clear. Thanks as always.

Double Click one of the mask vertices and you get a transform box like in PhotoShop, Shift keeps things proportional, the corners scale all, you can even rotate. Enjoy

Why can’t you just use the Mask Expansion property?… just wondering why you need to scale down the mask another way?.

    Thanks guys.

I’ve got nothing “personal” against the mask expansion property, but I thought that there was a way to get a “bounding box” to manipulate the mask size. I find it a bit easier to use, especially when working with the feather property.

    Thanks again.

I think yikesmikes gave you a good answer to your question. But I’ll give you another option as well: select the mask and hit cmd-t (ctrl-t on PC) and you get a standard transform bounding box.

To see the masks on a layer quickly you can hit ‘m’. This will reveal the masks and their ‘Mask Shape’ properties, you can also hit ‘m’ twice rapidly to reveal all of the mask properties.

    I didn’t know about the M-twice, thanks that’s a good one.
