    Hi,

When copying paths from Illustrator or Photoshop and pasting them onto an AE layer with the same dimensions, the paths have shrunk and have lost their original position.

How can i copy-paste paths into After Effects (6.5) without losing their original dimensions and position?

I’ve seen Aharon Rabinowitz’ tutorial on copying paths to AE and I followed his guidelines exactly, so there must be a setting or preference which I have to tweak.

    Thanks for your help!

No, I don’t think that’s the full truth. It explains the shrinkage, but not the positional changes. The point here is, that as long as you only copy&paste a single path, AE will re-center it on the layer you paste to. Only multiple masks/ paths retain their relative positions.

the fact is, I didn’t import a file; I only copy pasted the paths from a Photoshop document with the same dimensions as the AE comp and layers.

I vaguely remember that there is a maximum number of masks per layer that AE can handle (how many?). Perhaps that’s where the problem comes from because i’m importing a few hundred paths (i’m only wildly guessing here).

Both the AE composition and the .psd are set to square-pixels…
