Anyone know of how to save a project to an older version of after effects??? I need to go back from AE 7 pro to AE 6. No special effects have been used from AE7 pro.

As far as I know an AE7 Project cannot be opened in earlier versions of AE.

no easy way, but you might be able to save some work and rebuild it quickly.
once you import your assets and set up your comp to match the v7 one, select a layer, hit uu, select the keyframes (or I bars for those parameters that are not default) hit copy, then paste it into a text doc. change ae7 to ae6, copy all, then select the corresponding layer in ae6 and paste.

depeding on your project, this could be a real timesaver

Seems like once you’ve done a project (as long as it isn’t huge) it won’t take horribly long to recreate it. Especially if you do the whole keyframe copy-paste idea mentioned above.

Wasn’t there a hack that if you opened a aep-file in a text editor and altered something in the first few command lines and saved it you could open it in older versions. Of course only with the features that both versions support.
