I’m hoping someone has a solution to this dilemma. During the course of a normal workday I find myself repeating tasks. Nothing new there, but the problem is sometimes I will miss a simple step and it causes a great deal of delay. An example of this is when I am creating a file to deliver to broadcasters and I am putting in bars and tone i always have to go in and manually change the audio level to -20db. Doesn’t seem like much but when you do it 30 or 40 times/day the task does end up taking up a fair chunk of my time that I could really use. Missing this detail costs even more time in going back to correct it.

My question is can I somehow permanently set my workflow so that when I open FCP everything is set the way I need it?

I mainly use two workflows, one for SD and one for HD

Why don’t you just set bars and tone just the way you like them, then export as a Quicktime (self contained/same as source)…then re-import.

Or make a sequence with the bars and tone on them already configured the way you like…keep them in a separate project and save that project.

There are a few things I can think of which might help.

1 – Setup your system how you like it.
2 – Create a new ‘Easy Setup’ for your sequence settings.
3 – Use Digital Rebellion’s Preference Manager to save your preferences.
4 – Save a copy of your project and name it “Default”.

(Maybe do this twice – one for your usual HD setup and one for your SD setup)

Then next time you start a project.

    1. Load your ‘Default’ project.
    2. Load your ‘Easy Setup’.
    3. Restore your preferences using Preference Manager.
    4. Save As.
