  Saving jpegs from Photoshop

  I am attempting to save image from CS5 as jpeg. When I view the file’s destination the image icon shows as a white, blank page and the file extension shows as ‘file’. This happens more if I try to save the image in low resolution but occasionally it happens at a higher resolution.
  This doesn’t happen all the time. On my old computer with Windows XP it didn’t happen. I have a new computer with Windows 7 but the problem didn’t start immediately after I bought it. I don’t think I have changed any settings. I emphasise that I am telling the software to save as a jpeg.
