  • Saving for Command Manager for C4D11.5

I have used Cinema 4D since version 10 and I have always been able to save my customized changes to the keyboards shortcuts without any problem. When I try accomplish the same task in 11.5 Cinema will let me do it but it does not keep the settings saved. Thus every time I restart the program I have to reset all of my settings. Can anyone help me figure out how to keep my custom keyboard settings in place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To to Cinema preferences and click on the “open folder” button at the bottom of the “Common” tab. You’ll see a “prefs” folder in there, and that’s where the “shortcuttable.res” file that controls shortcut keys should reside. If you have another such file somewhere in your C4D directory it may be overriding the saved settings.

And how to IMPORT keyboard shortcuts from, say, 11.5 to 12??

Yes, I was trying to do the same…only I am migrating shortcut keys from one R12 install onto another computer. I just thought transferring the shortcuttable.res file was good enough.

What I did was also copy the template.l4d and shortcuttable.res file into this path:

    C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12_XXXXXXXX\prefs

***Note, you might need to unhide hidden folders to see AppData under folder options.

Relaunch C4D and it worked. It might of worked the first time with just migrating shortcuttable.res file if only I could of remembered if I relaunched C4D. It even worked with the -parallel instances of C4D I have to launch multiple C4D apps on your machine.

    Hope this helps.
