  • Saving a font style via the preset method is really baking my noodle :-(

Morning from 18 degrees C sunny York UK but windy as usual…

In After effects CC 2015 a have three text colours I need to use but right now because I cant work out how to save custom presets I am manually entering 3 different hrefs into the colour palette.

I know this is a dumb, slow way to do this and i know there are other methods to re use font styles you like but i want to have a go again ( I have posted previously on this) on learning how to save a font style as a preset for easy re use.

    Below illustrates my pain again:

    Thanks in advance,
    David

Ae is not awesome at this — it would really benefit from Illustrator-style swatches. See this thread for a couple ideas:

With regards to my homebrewed palette system, I put a Fill effect on text and color it with that.

Good point, Dave. I often do a variation of this — I’ll build a “Palette” comp with big solids of each color, then pop it on top of my comp, make it a guide layer so it doesn’t render, scale it down into the corner of my working comp, and sample it with the eyedropper whenever I need.
