January 25, 2012 at 12:14 amYou have to save to a format that supports alpha channel. In theory, this may include some pro formats like Cineform or DNxHD, probably with the option to compresd the alpha, or leave it uncompressed… lossy compression on alpha is obviously a questionable thing.
But the common format is just uncompressed AVI. And when brought back in to Vegas, you need to change the clip properties to set the alpha compositing mode.

January 26, 2012 at 2:50 amI noticed a BCC filter called “save with Alpha” or something like that. Have not had a chance to try it though. Wondering if this picks a proper file format and all?
