April 11, 2005 at 6:46 pmYou are certain you have write rights to the directory?

April 11, 2005 at 7:01 pmAbsolutely !
This is only with PPro. I can open then project and work but cannot save changes. I can do a “save as” ONCE! to a network drive and then cannot save again whithout doing a save as AGAIN with another name.
I can create a new project on that drive but get an error saying that the file is locked when it tries to completly open it.
These are the symptoms. I can do AE projects, Word etc all day long to these drives. It is just PPro.Steve

April 11, 2005 at 9:29 pmUsing network drives for video editing in a corporate enviounment can be a nightmare, even without your issues. If the server thinks some one else is using the file, you cant save changes. The server is working against many of your needs that are peculiar to editing video.
All files should be on a local disk, preferably without any Novell crap and with full Administrator rights.. -

April 12, 2005 at 7:18 pmThis PPro 1.5
I’m am not talking about a corporate environment. I am working with 4 video workstations connected via Gigbit ethernet. The system is built for video. The server has nothing to do with it. Each workstation has 1.2 Terabytes of storage and I need to be able to open a project on a mapped drive and save changes. It is a PPro problem only. Like I said before, ALL other production apps work fine! This is a really big problem.Steve

April 12, 2005 at 8:10 pmMarisu Fronc had mentioned similar problems with PPro in passing on one of her edit* board posts…she may have some ideas for you, since she’s probably working in a similar dedicated video network environment.

April 12, 2005 at 8:49 pmThanks, but already been there.
I was hoping someone else has tried this. I know that PPro is SUPPOSED to work on a SAN, but I do not know anyone that has done this.
