Save Time When Exporting H.264 Clips Out of Final Cut Pro

But how does it look? Not sure about the intermediate codec for quality. If you make a reference video and use your cores in compressor I think the end result will be cleaner and still pretty fast.

If you need speed, then get an H264 accelerator like Elgato or Matrox (which works with Compressor I believe).

Couple of issues I see.

First off in your video you often say rendering when you really mean exporting or compressing they are not the same thing. For example you say render for the web. One does not render for the web you compress for the web.

Second, Just simply export using current time line settings instead of exporting AIC. For you AIC may be the best option because you may be editing in AIC already. If you are not editing AIC exporting as AIC would add an additional level of compression to your final video.

Third, Compressor will be much faster if you set up a virtual cluster, and a virtual cluster would definitely bead the speed of streamclip. Also using a device like the Turbo.264 from Elgato would also be much faster then using streemclip.

i agree with no “sending to Compressor”.
A “Multi-pass” for H264 means three passes (3). That means three times rendering the whole sequence (Compressor doesn’t uses the FC renders). However the advantage of “Send to Compressor” is that you send a full Uncompress 444 movie, not a poor AIC.
Normally I use MPGStreamclip although, IMHO the best compressor is HandBrake. The problem is that do not accepts Prores.
