So I worked on a project a few months back that ended up having dozens of comps in it. Now, I’m working on a new project for the same client and I want to reuse some of those elements however I don’t need all of them.

I’d like to be able to just take one of the comps from the previous project and use that one into my new project. Is this possible?

I’d like to ‘save as…’ just this comp and then import it into my new project.

I could just render it but I’m pretty certain I’m going to need to re-time some of the elements in this comp and I’d like to keep things as flexible as possible. Any input you might have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i don’t know of a way to export just a comp from ae, you could open the old project, delete all unnecessary comps, use file>remove unused footage to keep only necessary items then save the project and import it into a the project….

but i think i would just import the entire old project into the new one, then delete any unnecessary comps, then if needed remove unused footage (note: this will remove unused footage from the entire project, so if you have imported footage that has not yet been used in a comp, it will be removed…).

You could also select the comp, File > Reduce Project and save the project with a new name.
