    wow i could never justify spending 2 grand on a gbe switch. thats the same price as a fibre switch. what are the advantages of these over the cheap ones you can buy at bestbuy.. wow i sound ridiculous asking (but still serious)

    You’re right. There is no reason whatsoever to spend that amount. You can get a full-featured managed switch from Dell for like $600.

    The switch I chose in the end is the SMC8024L2 made by SMC. It’s fantastic and is very fully featured and is performing perfectly. I ordered it from Provantage for $424.42…

    i look forward to hearing your reviews… im monthes away from buying metasan and metalan and using gbe.. .right now i have a $50 netgear gigabit switch lol. let me know your xfer rates with the smc. thanks
