  • SATA Raid for M100 HD?

Posted by Lawrence Marshall on September 12, 2005 at 12:36 pm

Anyone using a SATA raid with M100 HD? The Compatible Peripheral Guide doesn’t list anything officially “approved”, and there are numerous SATA solutions out there using different SATA cards (Sonnet Tempo, Firmtek, etc.).
Is there anyone using a SATA raid / SATA card solution successfully with M100 HD?

    Thanks, Lawrence Marshall

I’m using a FirmTek dual channel SATA card with two 250GB drives. So far, no problems.

Thanks Franklin… I’m looking at several solutions, including the Firmtek SATA 4-port external card with the Firmtek two-bay case (with removable drives) One option would be to buy two of those, resulting in four drives in a Raid 0 configuration.

I have the Firmtek Seritek 1SEN2 with 2 Hitachi 7K250’s and I have read that using two cards/housings will not gain any speed advantages. Read this, there’s tons of good info, especially on some brand drive issues…

But, it’s still great to just pull the drives and swap them for additional storage.
