Hi, I am planning on adding a SATA Enclosure (any advice here?) for my hard drives. I plan on using my external SATA set up for most my final cut work. I’m nearly positive that I can run a “Firmtek Seritek/1VE4 External 4 Port SATA Host Card” on my G4 mirror 1.42Ghz tower (true?), on a pci bus of 33Mhz but I was wondering if a SATA set-up would even be that effective, or if I should I use fire wire 800 drives?

The set-up will have to handle 1TB in the long run so I would use 4 250Gb drives no matter what set-up, unless someone would think this problematic.

Anyway any suggestions as to whether it would be worth using SATA drives or fire wire 800 for my old computer would be helpful, or any thing I have not thought of yet, please.

    Thank you all,
    Eric

    Eric,

The people at Firmtek are former Apple folks. They are very Mac centric and will answer any questions you have. I’m certain you’d be doing fine with any of their products, but write them and ask, they are very nice.
