  • Sapphire V1 won’t promote to V3

My Symphony Nitris has Sapphire v3 installed and licensed.
Whenever I try to load a sequence containing AVX1 version of Sapphire I get a “Main thread” error and the software quits to the dekstop.

I am running Avid Symphony version 3.1.1 on both a Mac and a PC, both using the DX box.
I had no problems promoting version 1 to version 2 or promoting version 2 to version 3.
I have tried many different approaches such as having no media drives mounted or only having sapphire efx in a timeline and get the same result.
Anyone have any ideas that might keep me from having to recreate them all from scratch in online?

Can you post the full error?

You may want to throw a quick post up on the Genarts forum as well.

I have contacted Genarts and they don’t know what is causing it, there suspicion was an Avid problem.

With the “Automatically Promote missing AVX1 effects” setting checked in the “Effect Editor” setting, I load the sequence and get a message saying a new copy of the sequence needs to be created. I hit “ok”. The error “Bus Error in thread “Main Thread” at address 0x0″ come up. Once I hit OK through that, it quits to the dekstop.

Can you promote individual effects via the Effects Editor?

There may be a corrupt effect in there, could be anything.

Have you tried reinstalling Sapphire or MC? Are you using the SubCap effect by chance?

I have tried using the effect editor on individual effects and get the same result. I have tried reinstalling BOTH Avid and Sapphire.
It is not the subcap effect, mostly glows and film grain.
I have tried multiple sequences from multiple offline sources and get the same result so I doubt it is just a corrupted effect.

I’m not sure then. Have you tried deleting settings? Namely the MCState and creating a new user.
