SANmp with FCP problems
Installed a SANmp fiber network (2g fiber) and am having strange disk speed issues. I have 3 Xserve RAIDs and each gets different write speed (apprx. 100mps, 50mps, and 15mps) and am unable to digitize even DV footage due to dropped frames and phantom TC breaks. All RAIDs are RAID 5 and partitioned in 300-400gb partitions.
Couldn’t afford a proper install so had to do it ourselves and think we must have done something wrong. Didn’t have these problems at a former workplace with professional install.
Installed everything as such.
5 workstations (all G5’s) with Apple fiber cards and 2g fiber running (with SANmp software) to a QLogic 5200 switch, 3 Apple Xserve RAIDs also plugged into the fiber switch.3 of the workstations have Blackmagic decklink cards (2 are Decklink HD Pro, one Decklink SD Pro).
We have no problems digitizing DV or uncompressed (including uncompressed HD) to local or eSATA drives but cannot digitize to the RAID partitions (including the ones that get 100mps according to the Blackmagic disk speed test software).
Of course SNS (SANmp)’s tech support says the problem isn’t on their end, Blackmagic says it’s not them… I’m frustrated.
Can anybody help? (I’m posting to both SAN and FCP groups)
