Sandisk Express?
We did the “Free 8Gb SxS card” rebate with our EX-3, just as we had with the EX-1. It arrived today, but I was surprised to find that it is a Sandisk card:
I didn’t know Sandisk branded any of these. A quick trip to the B&H website shows it as “Discontinued.”
For a brief moment my hopes of more brands of SxS cards, and perhaps a price drop to follow, were alive. I’m still not too sure. We ordered a pair of the SD card adapters to try out, but I’m not excited about sending our guys around the country with ’em just yet.

Sandisk branded SxS (Sony and Sandisk) cards came out a while ago. I’ve also seen JVC branded prototypes last year. It’s all the same manufacturer though.
SxS isn’t going away (yet) but the use of SDHC has radically cut down an already small demand. Unlike SxS which is strictly reuse and growth based on camera sales, SDHC are getting close to archival (use like tape or XDCAM disc at least) use. Sandisk probably stands to benefit from volume SDHC sales.
Once we can overcrank on SDHC (apparently the JVC XDCAM EX camera can) SxS will not have great value beyond speed of transfer.

Hi Craig,
I’ve just tried the SanDisk Ultra II Class 4.
Format at once and 50 minutes recording without problem.
Now I’ve set two and I will see how it records both no stopping.
I will report.
SDHC for general recording and the SxS cards for overcranking.
