Samsung HD LCD’s have “Blue Only”
I apologize if I’m in the wrong forum, but I’m in the process of replacing my 20″ Sony PVM reference monitor for an HD reference monitor for my FCP suite when I came across the Samsung 650 and 750 Series LCD HD 120 Hz monitors. These are consumer monitors, I know, but I was surprised to discover they have a “blue only” feature that allows you to calibrate the monitor to color bars.
Is anyone familiar with these monitors? I’m all for having the right tools for the job, but was hopeful, that since Matrox can turn an ACD into a reference monitor, the the ability to calibrate to color bars might mean that I can do basic color grading on the Samsung monitor.
I’ve looked at the professional JVC HD reference monitors, and they produce a fine picture–although I was surprised at the narrow viewing angle. So the thought of a 37″ screen intrigued me.
In the end, I need to monitor HD and be relatively confident in the colors on the screen. My PVM never let me down in that department, and I’d like a $1k-$3k 24″ or larger HD monitor to replace it.
Thanks for your insight.
David
