WHY. WHY in the hell would you not allow sampleimage to utilize multi processor rendering?! Of all the effects, this would probably be one that would really benefit from this.

Been using AE for over 10 years now, and I STILL don’t understand the logic of the developers. There just keeps being major oversights to this software that hold it back.

That is all. Just a rant. >:(

It’s obviously not that they’re trying to vex you and everyone else in the AE community, I’m sure there are technical challenges to implementing this.

My workaround has always been to use Animation > Keyframe Assistant > Convert Expression To Keyframes on any of these expressions before my final render.

But its such a pain to do that. It kills the dynamic usefulness of the expression.

Would you happen to know of a way to convert the expression to keyframes, but only make one keyframe and not 1 for every frame? Because that ends up taking the most time when baking. I never need more than one keyframe usually when baking, and would probably speed things up greatly…

trim your layer to a single frame, convert the expression to keyframes, then set the endpoint back to the point it needs to be.

or memorize the value (!), disable the expression and write the value in the property value slot.

In fact all javascript-based features (so all expressions) can only use one thread, and they are also slower since they are interpreted on the fly. This has nothing to do with sampleImage itself.
