    Hi everyone. Newbie here.

This is probably a really easy question but I’m trying to create reflective, metallic text on a matte, textured paper. So I’d like the paper’s embossed texture to seamlessly move through the gold writing.

So I made a bump map from the same image that is in the paper colour channel so that the bumps would line up properly with the image. I then made a thin text object, raised just a fraction above the paper. But when I chose the same bump reference image that was used for the paper it sizes the bumps completely differently.

    Thanks for any ideas.

If I understood you correctly its because your text object has a different uv than your paper, they translate differently into space.

Go to your top view, select the material applied to the text, right click it and go to “fit to region” now do a rectangular marquee that matches your plane size.

    Many thanks Cassius,

That did the trick. I’d kind of hacked it by changing the scale and offset, but that is the proper way to do it.
