Another robust set of tools. This will speed up post-production and something that has me interested in. I think this NAB has had more innovation and excellent news then in years previous. Then again, every NAB feels that way. My two cents, whatever it is worth.

P.S. I feel a strong sense of optimism for X this year. The team at Black Magic Design changed the playing field, something else that I am very optimistic about. Not to mention the camera form AJA, rich feature set and priced reasonably.

Me too, I think this is where the “fun” begins. To me, FCP X 10.0-10.0.3 was just making it work. 10.0.3-10.0.6 was implementing/tweaking the core feature set. 10.0.6-10.0.9 was stabilizing the core and figuring out media management. 10.1 was the result of that.

At this point, I think the “core” is probably (mostly) done and after some bug squishing, the next layer of features will begin to appear. Everyone tends to focus, as you’d expect them to, on the UI etc. But there’s a lot of stuff that’s been going on under the hood that I think is probably a pretty big deal. Resolve 11 and the new Cantemo Portal are probably just the tip of the iceberg here.

As a prosumer, I couldn’t be happier. 🙂

Current price is just shy of $9,000 USD last check. It looks like higher resolution production is getting closer. Been checking out a Sony 4K TV at the local Best Buy store. Too early to tell, but it looks impressive. I don’t think HD as we know it is going away just yet.
