Salad of frame rates
Hi,
I got a real mess in terms of fps per second and shutter speed!
The material is of a SONY A7s:
– Shutter speed is set to 1/50
– Shooting format 100 MB/se in 60fps, 59.94fps to be exact (basic shooting mode set to 24 fps).I guess, by the error, that it was set to 1/50 instead of 1/60 shutter speed, I cannot use the 60p material properly in the 24p timeline (Slow down to 40%).
I wanna use it that way, since it’s dance material and should be in Slow Motion.
Right now there goes a lot of stuttering on.Usually, I work in PAL and when slowing down 50p material 50% it plays perfect in a 25p TL.
How can I treat this material now the best way?
On a 29,97 or 59.94 TL it plays smooth (when there’s no Slowing down).What should be the TL set to I work on?

What do you need to deliver? Generally I match the shooting frame rate of the most important angle and the rest get conformed. Shutter speed is kind of irrelevant though.

Basically the idea was 24p, and shooting 60p, but due to a constand communication problem of the Angieux Lens with theMetabones,
it went from 1/120 or 1/60 shutter speed to 1/50 (PAL). So, when interpret the 60p footage, even on a 29.97 TL, I get smearing and jittering.Best,

Well if it doesn’t play smoothly on any timeline I guess it’s a reshoot.

It does playback smooth in a 59.94 and 29.97 TL, but not when I try to use it as slow motion.
So I could edit it in 59.94p, give up on SloMo and then export to 59.94p.
I wonder, if I can get it then still to 24p or at least 25p with smooth playback.
60p has – for my taste – a not nice feel to it, specially for dance.Best,

Sorry as I can’t see your footage from here but seems like a 60p edit then export as 60p reingest completed edit in a 24p timeline and conform. And remember for next time:

Thanx. That’s the route I planed to take.
And not much to remember here: I am totally aware of that settings not going together,
But shooting with an Angieux vintage lenses and a Metabones on an A7s is a bad call:
The MB and the lens don’t communicate well and totally messing with aperature and shutter speed.Best,
