Io LA on a Dual 2 gig with 1.5 Ram and FCS 5.0. If I use any of the S-video Easy setups included with the latest version of Io software I get these random audio pops on all four channels of audio but they are the worst on channels 3&4 which aren’t even hooked up to anything. To further describe this “pop” I would say that it is the combination of a loud “pop” that pegs the meters and white noise. I have tried everything that I know to do and this only happens with the s-video setups. I have two of these boxes and they both do it. My next idea is to move to a different Mac and see if I get the same results.

Is anyone else having these issues? Any ideas on how to solve them? I have hundreds of hours of SVHS tapes that have to be captured and transfered to DVD over the next year so I have to get this thing going.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

If Channels 3&4 aren’t hooked up to anything, how are you getting pops? What codec are you capturing to and what easy setup are you using? have you downloaded and installed the latest drivers and firmware from AJA? have you turned off channels 3&4 ion your clip settings tab of the log & capture window?

I don’t know, that’s why I posted! I have tried ALL of the S-Video easy setups in FCP. Yes, I have all the latest stuff from AJA and yes, 3&4 are turned off. Now I should say that when they are turned off I do not hear the pops in preview but I still see them on the meters and it’s all of the channels that are popping not just 3&4 but 3&4 are the loudest.

Now, since I posted yesterday, I have moved the Io LA to my other PM with the same results, however, I have narrowed down the problem. It appears that this issue is caused by the JVC (yes, I know, Junk Video Corp.) S deck that I am using. If I power doen the deck the pops go away, however, it is much more difficult to capture video with the deck off! I have two of these pieces of junk and nothing else to test. ( I didn’t choose these machines, they were left to me by a previous employee.)

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

They are connected this way, S-Video from deck to AJA, stereo RCA audio to Mackie 1204 and mackie to AJA then AJA to PM. I have also tried going composite from deck to AJA with the same results.

BTW, when I capture I do not here the pops I just get really crappy audio.

    Thanks for any help.

OK, may have solved my own problem. Went back today and rewired the whole edit suite. Things had gotten kinda sloppy swapping out some equipment and installing some new stuff in a hurry. Now my problem is gone. Best I can figure is that I had an AC line a little too close to either the S-Video or one of the audio lines. After cleaning things up a bit and making sure that all audio, video and AC cables are separated the problem has dissappeared. OK, I have slapped myself on the wrist for letting things get out of control and will never let AC and AV cables play together again.
