    Hey folks,
My DVX100 has gone into “Auto Off” mode due to an S-Reel lock. I’ve considered trying to use a set of jewlers’ screw drivers to undo the plate holding the tape in and see if I can work it out its stuck position, but this presents the obvious danger of damaging my camera.
Are there any suggestions out there of how to deel with this problem or where to send the camera if it’s something requiring professional attention. I’m based in Asheville, North Carolina if anyone knows of something local. Also, any ideas about how much the repair job might cost?
As always, I appreciate the help. My best to you all,
    Chris

I also live in Asheville and apparently am having the same problem (see post above). Please let me know if you get an answer, or if you find some place to take the camera.

Can repair it. Don’t know the cost. They’ll get back to you with an estimate within three days after they receive the camera.

This also indicates a fault in the tape transport system. This can happen if the camera suffers an impact i.e. is dropped. Sometimes it develops on its own too. It needs to be serviced.
