I’m using Russell Brown’s advanced extracton method (https://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html – Advanced Background Extraction) to extract a basketball player from the background (using the pen tool to make an alpha channel, then using the alpha channel with the Extract filter). The process works very well, but I seem to be left with this white/orangey glow around certain parts of my player. I’ve tried using the Defringe, and Remove White Matting. This helps somewhat, but not a lot. The extraction itself also seems pretty rough (no better than when I was using the magnetic lasso). My image is 5x6inches, 300dpi and I stroked the path (used to make my alpha channel) with a brush that was 3 pixels, 96% hardness. Was the brush too small? Too large? Or am I doing something else wrong? I do a lot of extractions, so I need to get this right! Any ideas on what is wrong?
