my mother board just died, hopefully it can be fixed
but i am in turkey and there just isn’t the same service as in the usa
i am in the middle of a rough cut deadline and need to finish a project asap

i have my old hard drive in a case safe and sound
and a friend lent me a computer without fcp

    here are my questions:
    1. can i run fcp from my old hard drive connected to the new computer?
if yes how can i do this? please send me explicit instructions.

    2. my friends computer is mac book pro (old) runs mac osx v 10.4.11
the processor is 1.67 ghz, memory is 1 gb
i don’t now if there is a video card installed. do i need this? how do i know if it can run fcp?

    3. if i have to buy a new computer, what would you recommend (a laptop)
in terms of specs, so that i can order it from apple in the usa (as it is twice as expensive here), what configuration? i am working on fcp all the time and using adobe programs for design.

    please write to me directly

    thank you very much.

You can try to boot your friends computer using your system hard drive from your computer. Her computer is not very powerful. Lacks RAM and processor speed.

    System Preferences/Startup Disk.

Latest MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt are great systems.
