Running Avid Media Composer 3 and Final Cut Pro 6 on same Mac?
Does anyone know of issues related to running Avid Media Composer 3 (PC) using BootCamp and Final Cut Pro 6 on the same Mac. Running 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 8GB RAM with OSX 10.5.7. Want to be running media off the same HD array… 8TB Pro Avio Raid. Can’t afford the downtime for it to not work, so hoping someone has successfully done this themselves.

Why run Avid under Windows? Just create a dual boot system–one with OSX fully updated for FCP, the other running OSX and quicktime qualified for Avid. That way you definitely can use the same storage because both programs are installed under OSX. If you install Avid on a Windows boot you’ll have to buy a program to allow windows to read and write to/from your Mac formatted storage.

Go to the Mac site… or google dual boot setup.. there’s heaps of info out there… and it is very simple.
I now have 4 boot options (Final Cut, Avid, Bootable backup of FinalCut, Windows)
I would highly recommend setting up a bootable back up using Carbon Clone Copy also… it means if you have a disaster you can boot on the back up and copy it over to your usual drive. I’ve had to do this a couple of times and it means no stress and almost no downtime.

actually googling dual boot (mac) I get lots of infos about dual booting my mac with xp
but I don’t get infos about dual booting with leopard,
I assume it’s the same thing (or not)?my only doubt is about what to do with external peripherals such as soundcards etc.
should I disconnect them all and reinstall them or not?please let me know your opinion about this
