  • Run headless After Effects on a server

On my local machine, I can execute a command line that invokes my local copy of After Effects, which will of course run any scripts in the scripts/startup directory.

How do I do this same thing on a server? Can I install a copy of After Effects on the server? How would I even do that, I’ve never installed any apps on a server before. thanks

    Two questions in one:

    1. Can you install AE on a server?
    2. How do you run a script on a remote system?

    I’ll take a swing:

    1. I haven’t tried it; it’s not formally supported; yet unless Adobe specifically prevents it, it will install. Another option, which I’d personally prefer: install it on a virtual Win7 or Win8 machine instead, under a hyper-visor on that server. Much cleaner, more portable, easier to manage. Bottom line, it’s possible to install AE on a server.

    2. Yes you can.

Ok, cool, I will look into the virtual machine solution. Thanks!
