Using the DVCPro50 Panic AJ_SD93 Deck
when capturing to FCP 5.01 via firewire
often when capturing more than 5 minutes of DVCPro-50 to same drive as the video in a stretch the audio on playback within fcp is rubbery, it slips in and out of sinc from 1 to 5 frames. Does the deck need Adv. Reference, should we just capture via AJA instead.

anyone else dealt with this issue that has an answer to why this happens Sometimes..!! I have heard of other folks in our area having the same issue, and do not knwo the solution.

    thanks

What kind of drives are you capturing to and if they are firewire drives, do they share the same bus as the deck?

Weibetech Fw800 on a 3 port FW800 card Single ended.
Deck on the front Fw400 port, same issue occurs when using
    the back Fw400 port

Cool, so your drives and firewire bus are separated.

Do you have abort capture on dropped frames checked in your preferences? Perhaps FCP is dropping frames and you don’t know.

Are you sure the deck is setup appropriately (send dv50 and all)?

If you capture through the AJA, does it stay in sync?

I’m starting to hear that this is a common issue with this deck and with only certain lucky tapes.

Ill try the Aja route next.
