hi there, got a bit of a memory puzzle, hope someone can help:

I have a timeline with one layer of video, Prores HD 422 Proxy (same problem occus with prores HD 422 normal) and subtitles (ie text layer) above it.
Randomly, those places where the text layers are, the render-indicator line will display orange instead of green/dark green. Moving the cursor over it says “RT cache full, You can increase it’s size in the Memory pref’s”.
Doing so nothing changes though, not after restarting FCP either.

More curiously though; in the Memory tab I can slide to a max of 2560MB for Application and/or Still chache, The point is I have 8 GB mem available. And indeed my iStat indicator shows FCP is not using more than 25% of my RAM. I know Logic Pro has issues assigning more than 4GB when in 32bit mode, but now FCP can’t even handle more than 2,5GB??? That strikes me as a bug. I’m quite sure I remember having used much more ram with FCP – same version and configuration even.

Anything I should trash? Does the update to 703 fix this? Any thoughts?

    MBP 15″ i7
    FCP 7.0.2
    2x4GB RAM
    sequence: 1920×1080 hdtv1080i 16:9
square, upper, 25fps, prores 422 proxy

    Cheers! Arnoud.

quick update I found out in the mean time that FCP indeed only supports 2GB RAM (still quite a lot of course!) and trashed prefs, updated to 7.0.3, but the problem persists. I feel the problem must be somewhere else.
“The RT still cache is full” Increasing it’s size in the Memory tab does nothing. Playback frame rate is low, what is going on?!

thanks for any ideas on how to solve this.
