I just picked up a used M100 V8 LX and want to get a cable to connect my SonyUVW1800 to a G4 Dual 1ghz OSX.28 for machine control.

In Hardware Preferences under machine control I have two options:

    Media 100DV and TimecoderXM100.

I assume I just need a 9pin connector(back of uvw1800) to a phone plug type connector (modem port back of G4).

Is there an outlet that specializes in these cables?

    Thanks for any info.

    Cheers,

    Joe

You can buy them from e.g. Pipeline. You need the Mac version.

It appears I will need to get either a Keyspan Serial adaptor or the Stealth Serial Port to connect the cable to the Mac.

I did a search on both; nothing really hinted at which might be better although Keyspan seemed to come up more often.

Is one more reliable than the other?

    Thanks again for any info.

I definitely would recommend the Keyspan. No hassle with modifying your CPU, and if you upgrade to a new Computer you don
