  • RS-422 Switcher for FCP System???

I am trying to set up multiple decks with my AJA Io and I need to find a switcher for the RS422 Remote cable but I can’t seem to find one that isn’t overkill.

Is there a 3 port switcher out there somewhere? I don’t need a 16 port rack mount switcher.

    Thanks…MikeC

go to google, enter ABCD 9 pin switcher – in those exact words, and you will see dozens of mail order companies selling 9 pin switchers for your application. A 4 port ABCD 9 pin switcher is a very common product. BUT, I still think you wuold be better off with the 16 port (or 12 port) patch panel.

These are serials switchers right? Don’t I need RS422? Or does RS422 work with the serial switchers?

you are simply switching all 9 pins of a db9 connector. There is no difference between a serial port (or comm port) switcher, and a RS422 switcher. They use pin to pin cabling, with no cross connectors. There is no such thing as an RS422 switcher (unless there is a marketing strategy from companies that make video routing switchers that include RS422 switching, and this is just pin to pin switching). So yes, these cheap $15 boxes will work just fine.

But like I said, if it were me, I would buy a patch panel.

Great! I was thinking that this was going to be an expensive solution 🙂

Thanks so much for the info!

Ok, I’ll bite. Why would you recommend a patch panel, and which one?

    Thanks,
